Biomes 11/15/20

This week in science we talked about biomes. Biomes are places where things live; for example the forest or sea. We drew biomes out of a hat. Harrison and I chose sea or marine. We had to pick a place within our biome. We picked the Galapagos Islands. This was not our first choice, our first choice was the Mariana Trench, the deepest point in the ocean. But, unfortunately, the Mariana Trench has no plants.

We had to pick a plant and an animal. Harrison’s animal is a mimic octopus. It can change its looks to look like another animal. My animal is a basking shark, which cannot shut its mouth. It uses its large mouth to catch shrimp. We have not picked our plants yet. Beneath the Sea, the Galápagos Reveal More Marvels – Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution
